497 Workers Violate Labour Law

Muscat — The weekly report of the joint inspection

team at the Ministry of Manpower pointed out that the number of

workers violating the Labour Law during May 28th till June 3rd, 2017

stood at (497) including (398) commercial workers, (47) farm workers

and (52) housemaids and their equivalents.

The inspection teams caught (492) workers including (222)

absconding workers, (256) astray workers and (14) workers with other

violations.

The Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah witnessed the largest

number of workers violating the law with (150) followed by the

Governorate of Muscat with (117) workers.

The competent authorities at the Ministry of Manpower are taking

the legal procedures against them.

On the other hand, the Manpower Ministry statistics showed that

(370) expatriate workers were deported for violating provisions of the

Labour Law and the ministerial decisions executing the law.
