Over 81K Cases Benefit from Social Security in the Sultanate

Muscat —- The number of cases benefiting from social security in the

Sultanate reached 81,942 cases by the end of 2016, according to the Social Security

Bulletin issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI). Total

disbursements to social security beneficiaries amounted to

RO119.129.106

Statistics indicated that the year 2016 saw a decline in the number of social security

cases by 3.2% over the previous year.

The percentage of divorced women was 14.3% of the beneficiaries of social security, with

11,744 cases paid RO12,684,245. The percentage of widows benefiting from social

security amounted to 7.5% to reach 6165 cases, with a decrease of 447 cases compared

to the previous year and paid

RO10.080.785.

The Governorate of North Al Batinah accounted for about a quarter of the cases

benefiting from the social security (25.5%), with 20.915 cases followed by the Governorate

of South A’Sharqiyah with 9178 cases, then the Governorate of South Al Batinah with 8,842

cases, the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah 8709, the Governorate of North A’Sharqiyah 7954

cases, the Governorate of Muscat 7865 cases, the Governorate of A’Dhahirah 6148

cases, the Governorate of of Dhofar 5624 cases, the Governorate of Al Buraimi 3404

cases, the Governorate of Al Wusta 1835 cases, the Governorate of Musandam 1338

cases and outside the Sultanate 148 cases.
