152 journalist martyrs since October 7

Ramallah – Ma’an – The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate said on Sunday that 152 journalists and media workers have been martyred since the start of the Israeli occupation’s aggression on the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023.

In a press release, the Syndicate condemned the occupation’s continued massacres against Palestinian journalists, the latest of which was the massacre committed yesterday, which resulted in the deaths of 4 journalists.

She said that the occupation is committing one massacre after another against the Palestinian press, and is trying to kill witnesses to the truth in order to obscure it and hide the massacres it is committing against our people in all Palestinian territories, especially in the Gaza Strip, from the eyes of the world.

She pointed out that the occupation forces arrested more than 100 journalists, 85 of whom were detained from the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and 52 of whom are still under arrest, in addition to the injury of dozens of journalists, and the martyrdom of hundreds o
f their family members in the Gaza Strip as a result of the Israeli bombing of their homes, in addition to the occupation destroying and closing 86 press and media institutions throughout the Palestinian territories.

The Syndicate called on the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, and international and human rights institutions to stop the crimes of the Israeli occupation against Palestinian journalists, and to intervene urgently to provide protection for journalists and media institutions in Palestine in accordance with international treaties and conventions.

The Syndicate saluted the souls of the martyred journalists, who ascended on the path of their colleagues who preceded them, as they continue their commitment to the message of the journalism profession and the trust of conveying the truth to the world, and exposing the ugly face of the occupation and its ongoing and escalating crimes against our people.

She stressed that, in coordination with the International Federation of Journalists,
she will continue her efforts to prosecute the occupation and Israeli war criminals in international courts and the International Criminal Court, stressing that she has completed the preparation of all legal files that condemn the leaders of the occupation and reveal their true nature, calling for raising the global voice against this Israeli crime and exposing what it is doing to journalists.
