Sensational Napoli Run Riot against Liverpool

Naples, Napoli treated its fans to a night they won’t soon forget as they thrashed Liverpool 4-1 in the Champions League.

The Italians were superior in all aspects, as they dominated from start to finish in what many expected would be a close Group A encounter.

Instead, the Azzurri stamped their authority from the opening whistle, the Spanish MARCA newspaper reported.

After Victor Osimhen hit the post, Napoli were awarded a penalty for a James Milner handball inside the opening five minutes.

Piotr Zielinski stepped up and converted, with Napoli handed another penalty after 18 minutes when Virgil van Dijk fouled Osimhen in the box.

However, this time Alisson guessed right and denied the Nigerian’s strike.

It didn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things as Napoli continued to push forward and found a second through Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa.

The midfielder completed a give and go with Zielinski before firing home.

A third came before the break through substitute Giovanni Simeone, who came on for Osimhen, after the former Verona man prodded home from six yards out.

Napoli didn’t ease up and scored a fourth minutes after the restart when Zielinski chipped a finish over Alisson from close range, while Luis Diaz responded immediately with a curling effort.

The Colombian came close to a second but his bullet header was well saved by Alex Meret, with Napoli seeing out the remainder of the match to claim a deserved victory.
