Bahrain participates in Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue

Speaker and Head of the Parliamentary Division Executive Committee, Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, gave a speech in the high-level panel titled Peace and Inclusion – Promoting regional and global peace through intra-faith dialogue in the Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue: Working together for our common future in Marrakesh.

Al Musallam affirmed that Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has made great efforts in spreading a culture of peace, and to consolidate the foundations of coexistence and tolerance, by adopting and supporting all international initiatives that encourage dialogues between religions.

He said that the promotion of regional and global peace through interreligious dialogue is a very important.

He also affirmed that investing in the concept of (just and comprehensive) peace, with interreligious dialogue, is an effective and influential path towards coexistence, leads to an inclusive human culture and contributes to achieving stability and development for humanity in general.

The Speaker highlighted a number of Bahrain’s initiatives that aimed at achieving human solidarity in support of peace, including the hosting of conferences on the Islamic-Christian dialogue in 2002 and Dialogue among Civilizations and Cultures in 2014, Bahrain Declaration as a global document to promote religious freedom in 2017, the establishment of King Hamad HM King Chair for Peaceful Coexistence at La Sapienza University in Rome in 2018, the launch of King Hamad Faith in Leadership fellowship program in coordination with Oxford and Cambridge universities, the establishment of King Hamad Center for Cyber Peace to Promote Tolerance and Coexistence among Youth program in New York and King Hamad Medal for Peaceful Coexistence.

Al Musallam stressed that promoting regional and international peace through interreligious dialogue is a responsibility to all, to consolidate the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
