Cybercrime Prosecution discusses cooperation with banking institutions

The Cybercrime Prosecution, the Ministry of Interior and the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) held a meeting for representatives from various banking institutions in the Kingdom.

The meeting was a result from previous meeting that discussed electronic fraud and its challenges, organized by the Public Prosecution.

The Public Prosecution presented electronic fraud reports and statistics of the past years and their classification according to severity criteria, and shed light on some important electronic fraud cases that the Public Prosecution had undertaken, as well as the most recent methods used by the perpetrators in the implementation of their criminal schemes.

The General Directorate of Anti-corruption and Economic and Electronic Security at the Ministry of Interior showcased the mechanism of committing electronic fraud crimes, and the total amounts transferred through these operations between various banks locally and abroad during the past years.
