HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister issues Edict (50) of 2023

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today issued Edict (50) of 2023, amending provisions of Edict (33) of 2012 regarding the purchase of additional virtual years of service for public sector employees, based on the proposal of the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), and following the approval of the Cabinet.

According to the edict, the phrase “Ministry of Finance and National Economy” shall replace the phrase “Ministry of Finance”, and the phrase “Civil Service Bureau” (apparatus) shall replace the phrase “Civil Service Bureau” whenever they appear in Edict (33) of 2012.

A new article (Article III bis) shall be added to Edict (33) of 2012, and clause 8 shall be added to Article IV of the same edict, as follows:

Article III bis:

The award referred to in Article II of this edict is calculated according to Table 6, attached to Law (13) of 1975, regarding the organization of pensions and gratuities for government employees. It is applied to employees at the age of 60 and to employees who continue their service after the age of 60.

Article IV Clause 8:

8- Death.

According to the edict, Article 63 of the regulation of salaries and job benefits for employees subject to the CSB issued in Edict (77) of 2013 shall be repealed.

The concerned authorities, each in their capacity, shall implement the provisions of this edict, which comes into effect on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
