The Olympic “Fedayeen” draws with its Qatari counterpart in the Asiad

Our Olympic national team tied with its Qatari counterpart without goals, today, Friday, in the match that brought them together at Hangzhou Zhaogan Stadium, for the fourth group competitions, in the Asian Games held in the Chinese city of Hangzhou.

The first minutes gave the advantage to Al-Fedayeen, who put pressure on Al-Annabi’s goal through a series of attempts, the most dangerous of which was Khaled Al-Nabrisi’s attempt in the 28th minute. In the second half of the first half, the balance tilted in favor of the Qatari team, which intensified its attacks, but goalkeeper Mohamed Ahmed shone. Our team’s defenses thwarted Annabi’s attempts to advance.

In the second half, Al-Annabi striker Mansour Muftah took advantage of a mistake by defender Mohamed Saleh, and went one-on-one with our team’s goalkeeper in the 47th minute, but his shot hit the left post. The Palestinian response did not take long, after Samer Zubaida sent a cross into the penalty area in the 51st minute, but the Annabian defenses took away its danger, before another attempt to score came via a header shot from defender Mohamed Saleh, which went close to the post. In the third minute of stoppage time in the match, Al-Anabi of Qatar almost snatched the winning goal, but Mohamed Saleh was present and cleared the ball with the help of the crossbar.

The draw placed Al-Fidai in second place in the group behind leaders Japan, while the Qatari team finished in third place, “last”, with a draw and a defeat, which it had received from Japan in the first round, with a score of 1-3.

Our team’s chances of qualifying for the next stage remain, as it will face its Japanese Olympic counterpart next Monday in the third and final round.

The first and second of the 6 groups qualify for the round of 16, along with 4 teams that occupy third place
