Foreign Minister, Maltese Counterpart Review Fields of Bilateral Cooperation

Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister met with Dr. Ian Borg, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of the Republic of Malta, on the sidelines of the 27th session of the Joint GCC-EU Ministerial Council in Muscat.

The two sides reviewed areas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. They also shared the keenness in expanding vistas of cooperation particularly in fields of tourism and investment. The two sides also exchanged viewpoints on a range of regional and international issues of common concern.

A memorandum of cooperation (MoC) was signed between the Diplomatic Academy in the two countries. This MoC will provide the two sides the grounds to work jointly in training and research.

The Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade of Malta affirmed that the MoC will provide an opportunity for diplomats to exchange expertise and skills, as well as contributing in promoting cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Malta.

He told Oman News Agency (ONA) that this MoC represents an important step in the bilateral relations. He highlighted the keenness of the two countries to intensify channels of communication during the upcoming period with the aim of upgrading the level of relations and cooperation and advance them towards broader avenues to serve the joint interests.

The meeting was attended by Munthir Mahfoudh Al Mantheri, Head of Europe Department, Hashil Obaid Al Mahrouqi, CEO of OMRAN Group and officials from both sides
