Foreign Direct Investments Reach RO 22.9 Billion by End of Q3 2023


Muscat: The volume of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the Sultanate of Oman by the end of the 3rd quarter of 2023 reached RO 22,961.4 million, according to preliminary data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The sector of extracting oil and gas seized 76.9% of total foreign investment, with a total value of RO 17,672.3 million.

The value of foreign investment in the converting industries sector by the end of the third quarter of 2023 reached RO 1,406.2 million. The financial intermediation activity came next with RO 1,530.9 million, while real estate and leasing activities and commercial activities reached RO 1,035.4 million.

Further, foreign direct investmentin various sectors stood as follows: electricity and water (RO 466.3 million), transport, storage and communication (RO 361.9 million), trade (RO 216 million), hotel and restaurants (RO 111.4 million), constructions (RO 82.1 million) and other activities (RO 78.9 million).

As for foreign direct investmentfrom diff
erent countries, it reached the following figures: from the United Kingdom (RO 11,521.8 million, constituting 50.1% of total foreign investment), the United States of America (RO 3,881.2 million), the United Arab Emirates (RO 1,275.4 million), the State of Kuwait (RO 922.3 million), the Kingdom of Bahrain (RO 732.6 million), the People’s Democratic Republic of China (RO 594.5 million), the State of Qatar (RO 442.3 million), the Kingdom of the Netherlands (RO 374.7 million), the Swiss Confederation (RO 288.3 million), the Republic of India (RO 277.8 million) and other countries (2,650.5 million).
