Study Signals Climate Concerns Over Current CO2 Levels Compared to Ancient Times

A comprehensive study analyzing rock records spanning 66 million years reveals alarming insights into Earth’s climate future.

The research, published in the journal Science, indicates that the last time carbon dioxide levels were comparable to today’s human-induced levels was 14 million years ago, a longer timeframe than previously believed.

Over 80 researchers from 16 countries collaborated for seven years on the study, highlighting the profound impact of greenhouse gases on Earth’s climate over millennia.

Current predictions suggest a 1.5 to 4.5 degrees Celsius temperature rise for each doubling of CO2, but the study proposes a higher range of 3.6 to 6 degrees Celsius.
