CENTCOM: Houthis launches two anti-ship ballistic missile into Red Sea

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced late Tuesday that Houthi group launched two ballistic missiles into the Red Sea.

In a statement issued on (X) – previously known as twitter – CENTCOM said “in the past 24 hours, Iranian-backed Houthis launched two anti-ship ballistic missiles from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen into the Red Sea”.

The statement added that there were no reported injuries or damage to US ships, the coalition or commercial ships.

The US Central Command affirmed that “this continued malign and reckless behavior by the Iranian backed Houthis threatens regional stability and endangers the lives of mariners across the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.” The US State Department had previously condemned, the ongoing attacks on commercial ships by the Houthi militia in several statements, especially those carrying humanitarian aid.

The US announced on January 17th the re-designation of the Houthi militia on the list of terrorist organizations due to the multiple attacks on commercial s
hips in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden as well as on forces stationed in the region.
