WHO Mobilizes to Treat Those Injured in Israeli Massacre in Khan Younis


Geneva, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that WHO and its partners are responding to the injuries from a series of Israeli airstrikes carried out in Al Mawasi area, near Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip on Saturday.

Ghebreyesus added, “134 severely injured people have been admitted to Nasser Medical Complex, which is extremely overwhelmed by the influx of patients. WHO staff are present at the hospital alongside two emergency medical teams treating the injured. We have dispatched 50 foldable beds and 50 stretchers to increase the hospital’s capacity, while our pre positioned medicines and trauma supplies are being used to save lives.”

The WHO Director-General said that some of those injured have been taken to a field hospital in Deir Al Balah, where WHO has dispatched medical and trauma care supplies to cover the urgent needs of 120 people.

The Israeli occupation forces committed a massacre in Al Mawasi, killing nearly 100 Palestinians, half of the
m women and children, and injuring 300 others, some of whom are in critical condition.
