Cairo sounds alarm about grave Israeli occupation decisions

Egypt cautioned against the Israeli occupation’s serious decisions that hinder ongoing efforts to ensure the bi-state solution, citing recent decisions to designate UNRWA as a terrorist organization and reject a Palestinian statehood.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati made the remarks during a phone contact with his French counterpart Stephane Sejourne, who discussed the latest regional developments, mainly Gaza and Sudan, said the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in a press release.

He added that the international and European recognition of the Palestinian State is unquestionably an unequivocal message to the international community and the Israeli occupation that the two-state approach should be put in place.

He quoted his French counterpart as looking forward to playing a crucial role in pushing forward ongoing efforts to put an end to the crisis at an early date.

He added that they had also discussed the current situation in Sudan, with the French foreign minister having spoken highly of Egypt’s recen
t initiative to invite all Sudanese political and civilian groups to attend an inter-Sudan conference to find a way out of their protracted crisis.

For his part, the French foreign minister lauded the deep historical relationship between Paris and Cairo while marking 100 years since they forged their bilateral relations.

The French minister considered Egypt a principal partner to France in the Middle East region.
