Muscat, The Ministry of Finance today signed an agreement with Arizona University and the Institute of Public Administration (IPA) to carry out a “National Leaderships Development Program”.
The program, to be implemented in three years, seeks to upgrade government performance through a set of training courses that benefit directors of government departments and qualify them to undertake advanced management responsibilities, participate in devising policies and competently accomplish performance indicators.
The agreement was signed by Dhafir Awadh al Shanfari, CEO of “Partnership for Development Authority” (Finance Ministry), Sayyid Zaki Hilal al Busaidi, CEO of the IPA and Joe Carilla, Assistant Dean of Eller Executive Education Centre, University of Arizona.
The program benefits 150 government department directors. It will also provide training courses for 80 higher leadership managers and 120 government employees.
Fifteen trainees, from among those responsible for advanced government leadership programs, will be dispatched for further training at Arizona University.
The signing ceremony was attended by Labour Minister Dr. Mahad Said Ba’Owain, the Chairman of the IPA, and Nasser Khamis al Jashmi, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance.
