Al Roya Economic Award 2019 Launches

Muscat, Al Roya Economic Award was launched in

its eighth edition (2019). The current session is launched in a strategic

partnership with Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI)

and for three consecutive years.

This came during a press conference organized by al Roya

newspaper at OCCI headquarters. Hatim bin Hamad al-Tai, Editor-in-

Chief of al Roya newspaper, the supervisor general of the award,

explained that the strategic partnership with OCCI will strengthen and

support the private sector and enable it to play a pivotal role by the

award in highlighting the distinctiveness of the Omani private sector.

Abdul Adhim bin Abbas al Bahrani, CEO of OCCI said that al Roya

Economic Award sheds light on economic, investment and other

related issues.

Fayza al-Kalbaniyeh, Head of the Economy Department at al Roya

newspaper gave a presentation on the latest developments and details

of the award. She explained that the award includes seven categories:

Best Government Project Award, Best Private Sector Award, divided

into two sections: first is Large companies. It will be given this year for

companies operating in logistics. Second is SME category.

She added that the categories also include the Best Foreign

Investment Award, the Best Social Corporate Project, the Best Student

Company Award and the Best Insurance Company Award.

She affirmed that the deadline for the applications will be Thursday,

14 April, adding that award presentation ceremony is expected to be

held in early May.

The press conference was attended by Qais bin Mohammed al

Yousef, OCCI, a number of members of the State Council, members of

Majlis A’Shura, directors general, interested persons in the award and

a group of journalists.
