All aboard as state railway chief prepares for surge in freight

Freight transport by train between Nong Khai and Laos will increase to 24 round trips a day over the next five years to handle growing cargo traffic from the high-speed rail link from China to Laos set to open next month, according to the State Railway of Thailand (SRT). The SRT currently operates four daily round trips for cargo and another four round trips for passengers between Nong Khai and Tha Nalaeng in Laos.
