President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, sent a condoling cable to Iraqi President, Barham Salih, and Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, for the victims of the terrorist explosion which targeted the Baghdad market yesterday, resulting in several martyrs and wounded, on the eve of the blessed Eid Al-Adha.

In the telegram, President Aoun stressed Lebanon’s stand and solidarity with Iraq and its people in this difficult circumstance, stating that “The work to eradicate terrorism from its roots must continue, and efforts to achieve this goal should not be relied upon or mitigated, no matter how stressful the circumstances and conditions are at the health, social and economic levels”.

The President also warned that terrorism is “Determined to destroy identities, values and principles of the Arab countries, which do not meet any part of the terrorists’ principles and the bases they adopt in their attacks”.
