At the Behest of HM The Sultan, Shura Council Concludes 3rd Annual Sitting

Muscat, Upon the orders of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Shura Council will end the 3rd Annual Sitting (2021-2022) of the 9th Term (2019-2023) tomorrow (Thursday), 14 July 2022.

The directives stem from the provisions of Article (38) of Council of Oman Law (7/2021), which provides that “The Council of Oman shall have an annual sitting of not less than 8 months a year and convenes at the invitation of His Majesty the Sultan during November every year”, while Article (14) states that the Council of Oman’s sitting concludes its sessions at the behest of His Majesty the Sultan”.

Sheikh Ahmed Mohammed Al Nadabi, Secretary General of Shura Council, said that during the 3rd annual sitting, the Council discussed various draft laws and decisions and studied five ministerial statements. The Council also approved 10 draft laws and agreements forwarded by the Government, among them the State Budget for fiscal year 2022, the Securities Law, amendment of provisions of the Law on Records and Archives and the Notary Public Law provisions, he added.

Al Nadabi said that the Shura Council held two meetings with the Council of Ministers, noting that the two sides reviewed the government’s plans for the diversification of sources of income and augmentation of production to help support the national economy.

During the sitting, the Shura Council participated in 12 parliamentary meetings worldwide and asserted Oman’s stands on global issues and its foreign policy visions.
