Bahrain’s integrated national efforts to enhance women’s advancement highlighted

(BNA): Deputy Chairperson of the Services Committee at the Shura Council, Hala Ramzi, has affirmed Bahrain’s unwavering keenness to carry on enhancing women’s empowerment and advancement across various fields.

These efforts are made through enacting the necessary legislation and implementing a number of national initiatives and programmes that ensure women equal opportunities and participation as essential and indispensable partners in the comprehensive development march witnessed by the kingdom during the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the first supporter of Bahraini women, she said, paying tribute to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW) for her support and constant follow-up.

Ramazi was speaking as she participated, as Vice-President of the Bureau of Women Parliamentarians at the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), along a number of parliamentarians and international experts, in a webinar devoted to updating IPU’s handbook on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

Addressing the virtual session, Ramzi highlighted the integrated national efforts, under the umbrella of the SCW, led by HRH Princess Sabeeka, the Legislative branch, and the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to implement the provisions of CEDAW, integrate women’s needs and achieve their advancement at all levels.

She affirmed that Bahrain has made quantum leaps in women’s advancement, and met all requirements of CEDAW.
