Barham opens two schools in Qabatiya and inspects an elementary school


Jenin-Ma’an- Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Amjad Barham today inaugurated Omar Bin Al-Khattab Secondary School for Boys and Mahmoud Khalil Abu Al-Rub Vocational and Industrial School in Qabatiya Education; confirming the keenness to provide an attractive educational environment for students.

The event was attended by Undersecretary of Education Dr. Nafie Assaf, Governor of Jenin Kamal Abu Al-Rub, Mayor of Qabatiya Ahmad Zakarneh, President of Al-Istiqlal University Dr. Nour Al-Din Abu Al-Rub, Director General of School Buildings Eng. Wissam Nakhleh, Director General of School Quality Control Tariq Alawneh, Director General of Qabatiya Education Ahmad Jarara’a, Director General of Jenin Education Salam Al-Taher, donor Mahmoud Abu Al-Rub, and a crowd of representatives of Qabatiya activities and institutions and the educational family.

In his speech, the Minister thanked the donors responsible for completing these scientific edifices, praising the efforts made and the great giving in providin
g all the needs that would raise education in the town of Qabatiya, considering the commitment of the contributors to it an expression of the spirit of loyalty and belonging to education, stressing that the ministry will continue to build modern schools and stand up to the challenges ahead.

In turn, Governor Abu al-Rub conveyed the greetings of President Mahmoud Abbas to the attendees, appreciating the keenness of the ministry and its cadres to build schools and care about the development process, stressing that the message of education represents a pillar for establishing the foundations of the independent Palestinian state.

In his welcoming speech, Zakarneh stressed the municipality’s support for education and its interest in schools and improving the reality of education in Qabatiya.

In the speech of the donors, Dr. Abu al-Rub explained that the construction of a vocational school in Qabatiya reflects the spirit of interest in this vital sector and provides many opportunities for students, especially in
light of the needs for these qualitative specializations.

It is worth noting that Omar bin al-Khattab Secondary School was funded by the Islamic Development Bank with a contribution from the Qabatiya Municipality; This school serves students from primary and secondary levels, and contains many specialized and administrative rooms in addition to yards, facilities, stands and playgrounds, while the Mahmoud Khalil Abu Al-Rub School for Vocational and Industrial Education, the building was built and its laboratories were equipped with a generous donation from donors Mahmoud Khalil Abu Al-Rub and Dr. Abu Al-Rub, and five specializations will be opened in it: namely; Cosmetology for girls, which is part of the Home Economics branch, and in the industrial branch there are four specializations for boys: Electrical Usage, Automated Mechanics, Computer Maintenance, Welding and Metal Forming.

The Minister also inspected the Al-Fandakumiya Basic School for Girls and Boys; to check their readiness for the new school yea
r, and to review the status of the school infrastructure in the town in general, and discussed with the head of the council Ghassan Qarariyeh and a number of members and dignitaries of the town some important educational issues.

In a related context, Barham met with the directors of Qabatiya Education Schools; to discuss the difficulties facing the educational process, and listened to their demands and vision for developing education, and discussed a number of technical issues of interest to their schools.
