BASSIL: NO ONE THREATENS US WITH CHAOS, SANCTIONS OR VACUUM…WE CHOOSE THE REPUBLIC PRESIDENT THROUGH OUR CONVICTION, NO ONE IMPOSES HIM ON US

Free Patriotic Movement Chief, MP Gebran Bassil, confirmed today, during the general assembly of the movement’s youth sector held in Rabweh in the presence of former President Michel Aoun, that “our story is a story of an unstoppable struggle and a story of a dream that does not end, and it is the story of a free and liberated homeland, in which a strong state exists.”

“Our story is one of endless struggle and a story of an endless dream…the story of a homeland and the dream of being free and liberated, with a strong state…The first person who told us this story was General Aoun at the age of 88, and with him we dreamed about it and walked the path. Today we both talk about it, and in the future you will tell it to the coming generations, for the dream never ends and never gets old,” Bassil asserted.

“The dream of building a state will not come true quickly, otherwise it will be an illusion, and the illusion will be poisonous…If someone imagined that with the presidency we would achieve all our goals, the delusion would be choking! This pain afflicted the Lebanese, because they believed that with President Aoun, everything would be achieved, and perhaps it was our fault a bit that some believed so…” he went on.

“The dream is that reform prevails over corruption, and that the reformists hold the corrupt accountable. Here, the dream does not stop because it is a battle between good and evil, and we are good people…” he maintained, adding, ““We are people whose dream does not cease or grow old, and as long as we dream, it is the catalyst for our work, our struggle and our effort…We will win and good will prevail over evil, reform over corruption, and someone like Riyad Salameh [BDL Governor] will be held accountable…If people like him are not held accountable, the nation will not rise!” Bassil underscored.

“They want reform, yet they wish to bring in a corrupt president, a corrupt prime minister, and a central bank governor who is more corrupt than they are and under their protection,” he continued, adding, “They are upset if we say no…then no and a hundred no’s! Let no once threaten us with chaos, sanctions, or vacuum, the government, and parliament…We choose the president of the republic with our conviction, and no one imposes him on us!”

Bassil affirmed, “Our dream of a strong Lebanon, a strong republic, and a strong state does not stop, and we will achieve it as long as there are young people like you who will complete the struggle and the dream, and believe in the cause of a nation.”

“We, members of the Free Patriotic Movement, do not abandon our country, even if some of our youth are forced to leave it temporarily. We do not hate or despise it, but we love it and die for it. It is our whole story, and together we’ll complete the story till the end,” Bassil proudly pledged.
