Blinken to declare US one billion worth of aid for Ukraine in Kyiv

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Kyiv on Wednesday on a hitherto unannounced visit to declare a new huge package of aid for Ukraine.

The Russia news agency Interfax said Blinken would declare during his visit to Ukraine allocating USD one billion worth of additional military assistance for the Ukrainian forces.

Interfax broadcast some of his remarks in Kyiv, saying that he planned to discuss matters related to Kyiv’s counter offensive and reconstruction schemes, re-affirming that Washington’s resolve of supporting Ukraine remained solid.

Blinken’s talks with Ukrainian leaders are expected to touch on the issue resuming exportation of Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea ports and guarantees for the ship-boarded cargos after Russia unilaterally withdrew from the cereals’ deal in July.

Western states have rejected Moscow’s demands that constraints on Russian exports of wheat and fertilizers be lifted in exchange for renewing the commitment to the cereals’ deal, inked in Istanbul in July 2022 — with UN participation.
