CCPPM Board Meets

Muscat, The Board of Directors of the Centre for Competition protection and Prevention of Monopoly (CCPPM) held its first meeting this year under the chair of Sayyid Dr. Adham bin Turki al- Said.

Dr. Dhafir bin Awadh bin Badr al- Shanfari was appointed as Deputy Chairman of CCPPM Board of Directors.

The Meeting reviewed the objectives and competences of the Centre and its role in the application of Competition and Anti-Monopoly Law aimed at protecting the markets from anticompetitive practices, organizing economic activities, establishment of market rules and free prices and related systems to benefit the consumer and the national economy, as well as its role in the preparation of studies and research in the market to detect practices harmful to competition, and dissemination to raise awareness of the community.

On the other hand, the meeting reviewed the most important achievements during the past period, namely the beginning of the consideration of applications and complaints and the preparation of a study of the best practices in protecting competition and preventing monopoly using the Singaporean and British experiments as the best models on which to build the Centre.

The Board discussed the organizational structure and human resource recruitment plan of the Centre. It launched the website of the centre and activating hot lines 80000077/80000070 to receive calls and inquiries about everything that would weaken the competition and the market.
