Cholera Cases Rise in Nairobi

Nairobi, The number of cases of cholera has risen at Nairobi Hospital, one of the largest hospitals in the Kenyan capital, with eight hospital workers infected with the disease.

“There has been a sudden rise in the number of cholera cases in Nairobi, where the hospital has seen several cases and unfortunately eight staff have been infected,” the hospital administration said in a statement.

Reuters said that the statement gave no figures for how many cases that the hospital suspected there in the city.

There was no immediate comment from health ministry and local government officials. At least four people were killed and dozens treated when another outbreak of the disease hit the city in 2017, causing authorities to shut down some restaurants.
