Circular Regulates Artificial Intelligence Systems at Government Units

Muscat, The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology issued a circular about the policy of using artificial intelligence systems in the units of the state administrative apparatus.

The circular comes within the context of the ministry’s efforts to support government units in developing innovative solutions based on such systems in economic and vital sectors, as well as to keep pace with the developments of the fourth industrial revolution in a bid to realize goals of Oman Vision 2040.

The policy includes six moral principles, namely inclusivity, humanity, responsibility, justice, transparency and security. Those principles will boost trust in modern technologies and solidify the needed values to govern artificial intelligence systems. The moral principles and best practices will enhance the ideal use of those systems, and limit their risks.
