Collection of Omani Publications Presented to Tokyo University

Tokyo, The government of the Sultanate of Oman presented a collection of Omani publications in Arabic to the University of Tokyo’s Centre for Middle Eastern Studies (UTCMES)– the Library of Mohammed Saud Bahwan- to mark the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Oman and Japan.

Dr. Mohammed Said Al Busaidi, Ambassador of Oman to Japan lauded the university’s efforts in enhancing bilateral relations through lectures that are held all year round to highlight Oman.

Prof. Moriyama Takumi, Dean of the College of Arts at the University of Tokyo thanked Oman’s government for the valuable publications which will contribute to enriching knowledge and research for Japanese students. He said that the library opened in 2018 and it houses as many as 2500 publications in Arabic, Persian, Turkish, English and Japanese.

To enhance Middle Eastern studies and to enrich studies about Oman and the region, the Omani government founded the Sultan Qaboos Chair of Middle Eastern Studies at the UTCMES in 2010.
