Muscat, Muscat NationalDevelopment& Investment Company (ASAAS) announced the commencement of construction works to develop Al Hafa waterfront in Al Hafa area in the Wilayat of Salalah, Governorate of Dhofar with a total area of more than 60,000 square meters.

ASAAS has assigned the main contractor to construct the traditional heritage souq (market).

Ahmed Salim Al Busaidi, Chairman of ASAAS Board said that the partial operation of the market is expected to be in July 2022, while the full operation will be in 2023.

ASAAS is developing Al Hafa area, a vital waterfront in Salalah and one of the most important landmarks of the Dhofar Governorate and one of the country’s leading tourist attractions. A heritage souq with local architectural design elements will be an alternative to the current souq. This area will house many small and medium enterprises besides attracting some international brands to meet the needs of the visitors of this souq.
