Japan logged a current account surplus of 1.03 trillion yen ($9.1 billion) in September, the Finance Ministry said Tuesday. Among key components, the country had a goods trade deficit of 229.9 billion yen and a services trade deficit of 257.0 billion yen, according to the ministry’s preliminary report. Primary income, which reflects returns on overseas investments, posted a surplus of 1.75 trillion yen.
