Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps chairs Arab Ambassadors Council

Bahrain Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps, Shaikh Fawaz bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, today chaired the Arab Ambassadors’ Council.

The ambassadors expressed condolences over the victims of the earthquake which struck Al Haouz Province, southwest of the Moroccan city of Marrakesh, and the floods which devastated the city of Derna, leaving several casualties and injured people.

They also welcomed Tunisian Ambassador-designate to the UK, wishing him success in his diplomatic duties. The panel also reviewed the latest Arab and Uk political developments.

Martin Warr, Head of the International Coalition for Strategic Communications Cell to Combat ISIS at the British Foreign Office, shed light on the role and tasks of the Cell and its achievements over the previous years, pointing to the existing cooperation between the Cell.

He highlighted coordination between the cell and the 86 participating countries, expressing his aspiration for more cooperation with friendly Arab countries.

He commended Bahrain’s support to the cell which combats extremist movements and ISIS ideology of ISIS in cooperation with friendly countries in the region.

He praised the role of Bahraini talents who have become an essential element in the work of the communications cell since its inception in 2016, noting the recent assignment of diplomat Shaikha Latifa bint Ahmed Al Khalifa among its cadres.

The council also met Omar Baddour, Director General of the London Arab Foundation, who gave a presentation on the latest developments regarding the Arab Women Award 2024 celebration, which will be held over four days in the British capital, London, to celebrate the achievements of Arab women and their great contributions in various fields.

Director of the Anti-Islamophobia Working Group Anisa Mahmoud highlighted the initiative to combat movements directed against Islam and show the true image that characterizes the true Islamic religion of justice, equality, moderation, and clarity.

It was also agreed that the Council of Arab Ambassadors would support the group’s initiatives for the good they provide for the benefit of all Islamic peoples around the world.

Bahrain Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Dean of Arab Diplomatic Corps, hosted a lunch banquet in honour of Andrew Mitchell, Secretary of State for Development and Africa, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.
