Derasat, Sultan Qaboos University sign cooperation agreement

Manama, Chairman of the Bahrain Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies Board of Trustees (Derasat) Dr. Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Khalifa affirmed that the signing of the cooperation agreement between Derasat and Omani Studies Center in Sultan Qaboos University represents a qualitative leap and an important addition in the path of strengthening research and scientific cooperation between the two countries.

The chairman praised the developing Bahraini-Omani relations in all fields, thanks to the keenness of the leaderships of both countries to enhance them, on the sidelines of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s visit to Bahrain.

He said that the agreement aims to open new horizons of research and scientific cooperation.

The agreement includes requirements of innovation, creativity and the knowledge society by holding joint events, seminars, conferences and workshops, exchanging experiences, publications and successful experiences and developing intellectual platforms. It aims to promote the values of understanding, peace and coexistence.

He expressed his admiration for the high academic performance of Sultan Qaboos University and its role in community service.

The chairman noted the results of the visit of Derasat’s delegation to the university, expressing his aspiration to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions.

Shaikh Abdullah said that Derasat continues its role as a national institution to support the decision-making process at various levels, and to enhance cooperation and partnerships with prestigious research and scientific institutions regionally and internationally.

It also aims to serve the reform approach of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and increase the rates of scientific contribution to achieving sustainable development, and to improve the efficiency and quality of public services, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
