Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul-Latif Darian, arrived in Saudi Arabia at the official invitation of the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance in the Kingdom, Sheikh Abd al-Latif bin Abdulaziz Al-Sheikh, to partake in the opening of the ‘Communication and Integration’ Conference, which is being held in Makkah Al-Mukarramah under the auspices of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Aziz Al Saud. During his participation in the conference, Derian said: “Extremism and narrowness have not ended, and we need to develop our means of religious education…”. He added: “Today there is a major wave of erosion of our religion, customs, traditions, humanity, morals, and the cohesion of our families, so we need not only fatwas but continued appreciation and development with reason and logic for the survival of our families and children on the religious and human level.’ Derian concluded: “There is a need for a collective and comprehensive dialogue, regarding methods of cooperation and integration in the great religious matter which faces many challenges.”
