The Ministry of Education is stepping up preparations to start training high schools students on the IELTS and TOEFL placement tests during the second semester.

Education Minister Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma today held a meeting with 370 English language teachers and updated them about the plan

“Introductory meetings will be held for students, while teachers will be trained on the content of the two exams”, said the minister

High school students will sit electronic assessment tests in order to measure their levels. The first training test during the period from 12 to 16 February, while the second has been scheduled for May.

The plan aims to hone high school students’ English skills and help them meet admission requirements in many universities, which would exempt from preliminary programs.
