Eid celebrations in Dubai will set the bar higher, UAE Paper

Abu Dhabi: A UAE paper has said that success of the Eid in Dubai celebrations will further strengthen its internationally recognised status as a world festival and event city. “The bold move will also boost the tourism, retail and hospitality industries that are the mainstays of the economy of the emirate. It will further test and prove the capacity of the transport and other economic infrastructure of Dubai to host even bigger festivals and events, ” Gulf News said in its editorial while commenting on the announcement of the Dubai ruler that shopping malls will remain open for 24 hours a day during the Eid celebrations in Dubai, which will run for two weeks from October 18 this year.

Making the announcement, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, said: “We welcome our brothers and sisters from the Gulf region and across the world to experience the hospitality and unique cultural experiences that Dubai will offer this Eid. Families are the building blocks of our society and we want even more of them to enjoy the celebratory spirit of Eid here in Dubai.” “This is important as the city is bidding to host the 2020 World Expo. The six-month celebration of new ideas and international partnerships takes place only once every five years and has never before been held in the Middle East, South Asia or Africa. It will attract visitors from across the world and is another important opportunity for Dubai to showcase its achievements,” the paper added.
