Environment Authority, PDO Discuss Roadmap of Green Economy in Oman

Muscat, The Environment Authority (EA) and Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) organized a virtual meeting in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to discuss the first draft of the green economy roadmap in the Sultanate.

The roadmap was outlined by experts from the UNEP programme for the first six sectors, namely the buildings, water, manufacturing, transportation, waste and energy.

Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority stressed the importance of green economy for the Sultanate. He also highlighted the Sultanate’s efforts in diversifying economic resources, enhancing knowledge and innovation and improving legislations and incentives systems.

On his turn, Sami Demasi, UNEP Regional Director and Representative of the UNEP Programme in West Asia lauded the Sultanate’s commitment to list economic diversity and environmental sustainability as national priorities in Oman Vision 2040.
