Environment Authority Signs Cooperation Programme in Green Finance

The Environment Authority today signed a cooperation programme with Global Green Growth Institute in the field of nature-based solutions, land reclamation and access to green finance in the Sultanate of Oman.

The 5-year programme seeks to enhance joint efforts in maintaining environment sustainability and addressing the challenges of climate change.

The programme was signed by Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, and Mahamadou Tounkara, Regional Director of Global Green Growth Institutefor the Middle East and North Africa.

The two sides will exchange information, legislation, plans, expertise and best practices in the areas of adaptation to climate change and mitigation of its effects, according to the stipulation of the programme, which also promotes the use of smart climate technologies and resource efficiency.

In addition, the programme targets the amelioration of livelihoods and the resilience of ecosystems through nature-based solutions, as well as the generation of green
jobs, entrepreneurship and backing to the Green Climate Fund.

Global Green Growth Institute is an intergovernmental international organization dedicated to sustainable economic growth in developing countries.
