Sohar: The Environment Agency, represented by the Environment Department in North Al Batinah Governorate, launched the ‘Environmental Ambassadors Industry’ initiative, with the participation of a number of government and academic institutions.

Nizar bin Salem Al Araimi, Director of the Environment Department in North Al Batinah Governorate, said that this initiative, based on social responsibility and mutual benefit between the public and private sectors, works to convey the environmental message and activate the principle of community environmental partnership aimed at consolidating environmental behavior among all segments of society.

Her Excellency Iman Ali Al Hosani, head of the “Industry of Environmental Ambassadors” initiative team, confirmed that the initiative is based on protecting the Omani environment, and extends for a full year.

She added that the initiative is divided into two phases, the first is the academic qualification phase, which is to involve environmental ambassadors in environmental rhetoric courses, workshops and e-learning sessions on various environmental topics.

The second is the stage of scientific qualification and includes practical application, so that environment ambassadors participate in leading actual environmental activities in the governorate, and activate targeted environmental initiatives that are in the interest of the environment and its vital elements.
