Fight Against Ebola in Congo Hinges on Aid

Geneva, The World Health Organization (WHO)

said fighting the outbreak of the Ebola in the Congo could fail unless

the overall living situation in the affected areas improves.

In parallel to efforts to rein in the deadly virus, it is necessary to build

up local infrastructure now instead of after the outbreak, the WHO’s

Ebola operations chief Michel Yao told dpa.

Yao’s comments came in response to an analysis by Doctors Without

Borders, which announced that the current Ebola fighting strategy in

Congo had failed.
