Foreign Minister of Greece Hails Oman’s Political Efforts in the Region

Muscat, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister described the talks session held today between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Greece as “positive”.

He added that the talks touched on a wide spectrum of cooperation opportunities in various spheres, particularly in economic and investment fields.

This was stated during the press conference held by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister and Nikolaos Georgios Dendias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece at the Foreign Ministry here today.

Sayyid Badr said, “The talks discussed many agreements and memoranda of understanding that the two sides are willing to sign in the future. These agreements cover fields of civil aviation, trade and investment to bolster economic cooperation between the two countries”.

He further said that an agreement on mutual visa waiver for holders of diplomatic, special and service passports between the two countries, as well as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on political consultations were signed today.

Sayyid Badr pointed out that the talks session discussed views on various issues of common interest at all levels for the sake of achieving further stability and security in the region and the world at large.

He affirmed that the talks between the two sides shared identical views, which back endeavours to deepen understanding and to resolve regional and international issues

On his turn, Nikolaos Georgios Dendias, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Greece lauded the political efforts exerted by the Sultanate of Oman at the regional and international arenas, particularly Oman’s constructive role and enormous endeavours in dealing with the humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

He expressed his satisfaction over the Oman-Greek strong relations, which yielded signing an agreement on mutual visa waiver and a MoU on political consultations, as well as holding the political talks between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of Greece. The move considered the first step to strengthen the bilateral relations. He hoped to boost the joint cooperation between the two countries towards broader prospects in areas of economy and investment.
