Foreign Minister Receives British State Minister for Middle East and North Africa

Muscat, Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister received today James Cleverly, British Minister of State for Middle East and North Africa at the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

During the meeting, the two sides several areas of the existing cooperation within the framework of the Oman-UK Comprehensive Agreement of rooted friendship and joint cooperation between the two countries.

They also covered a number of economic programmes and projects. In addition to cooperation in the field of public health and overcoming the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.

They expressed their interest in reaching a free trade agreement between the UK and the GCC countries.

At the regional and international arenas, they touched on efforts exerted to end the war in Yemen and supporting the humanitarian areas. Moreover, the two sides reviewed the situation in Afghanistan and Iran’s nuclear file.

In this context, the two ministers expressed their countries’ keenness on supporting efforts aiming to cement pillars of security, stability and peace.

The meeting was attended by Khalid Hashel Al Musalhi, Head of the Minister’s Office Department and Bill Murray, UK appointed-ambassador to Oman.
