FPM: WHOEVER PREVENTED THE PURCHASE OF FUEL FOR FACTORIES BEARS RESPONSIBILITY FOR FUEL, ELECTRICITY CRISIS

The Free Patriotic Movement’s political body held its periodic meeting today, chaired by its Chief, MP Gebran Bassil.

Following the meeting, the FPM issued a statement, in which it stressed the importance of quickly forming the government by Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati, in agreement with the President of the Republic .”

The FPM’s polit-bureau denounced the Israeli attack on southern Lebanon, demanding respect for Resolution # 1701 and maintaining stability.

The Free Patriotic Movement affirmed the right of Lebanon and the Lebanese to confront any aggression, reiterating its solidarity with the families of the victims of the explosion in the port of Beirut and its demand for the lifting of immunities in response to the judicial investigator.

“The FPM believes that the political hatred that overshadowed the performance of some parliamentary blocs, especially in issues of fuel and electricity, revealed that these forces have exploited this issue for many years to achieve financial gains and obstruct FPM’s work,” the statement added.

“By preventing EDL from buying the fuel needed to run factories, and claiming to protect the mandatory reserve, they bear direct responsibility for the severe fuel shortage crisis,” it added.

Finally, the conferees held the Central Bank responsible for not fulfilling its duty to exchange the books available at EDL with dollars in order to purchase the equipment needed for the maintenance of laboratories.
