FRENCH ECONOMY MINISTER CALLS FOR PREPARATIONS FOR A “TOTAL CUT” OF RUSSIAN GAS SUPPLIES

French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire called, during economic meetings in Aix-en-Provence (south), to prepare in advance for a “total cut” of Russian gas supplies, considering it “the most likely option.”

The second official in the French government said, according to “Agence France-Presse”: “Let’s prepare for a total cut-off of Russian gas. It is now the most likely option. This presupposes us to speed up the independence of our energy.”

He continued, “We are very independent, and we do not like to depend on others. The first independence should be in energy.”

“We have to prepare now for the battle of regulation, rationing, austerity and reducing consumption…Now we have to take decisions,” the economy minister added.
