GCC Secretary General stresses Importance of developing GCC-UK ties

Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), met Lord Tariq Ahmed, Minister of State for Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the United Nations at the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development, and Special Representative of the British Prime Minister.

The Secretary General stressed the importance of consolidating and developing horizons of friendship between the GCC and the UK, in a way that contributes to serving common interests.

The meeting discussed ways to enhance the historical cooperation and friendship relations between the GCC and the UK in various fields, especially with regard to facing the existing security challenges to achieve security and stability in the region, within the framework of the strategic dialogue and negotiations between the two sides.

Albudaiwi stressed that the GCC countries are looking forward to convening the fourth round of the Free Trade Agreement, to be held in London next July, adding that the results of this round will lead to an agreement between the two parties to proceed to the conclusion of a Free Trade Agreement between the GCC countries and the UK.
