GCC Secretary General welcomes ceasefire pact between Sudanese sides

Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jassem Al-Budaiwi on Sunday welcomed the ceasefire pact between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

In a statement, Al-Budaiwi praised the political efforts of Saudi Arabia and the US in aligning points of view of the two sides of the Sudanese war to reach an agreement to ceasefire and open an opportunity for peace in the country, recalling the 32nd Arab Summit resolutions.

Al-Budaiwi affirmed GCC’s support towards all diplomatic efforts to resolve the Sudanese issue by facilitating talks between the two sides and avoid conflicts in order to reach peace.

On Saturday, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America announced that representatives of the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces signed an agreement on a short-term ceasefire and humanitarian arrangements in Jeddah.
