Global Coalition’s helicopter crashes near Irbil

The Global Coalition to defeat the so-called Islamic State (IS) announced Thursday the crash of a helicopter while conducting a training mission near Irbil governorate, without causing any deaths.

It said in a press release that its service members conducted a routine helicopter training mission experience an in-flight mishap.

It added that there were no Coalition casualties nor damage to Coalition or civilian infrastructure, noting that the Coalition aircraft was damaged.

Local officials reported that the helicopter crashed due to a technical malfunction, noting that its crew consisted of two people who sustained minor injuries.

The Global Coalition to defeat IS was formed in September 2014, as its 86 members are committed to confronting IS on various fronts and dismantling its networks.
