Haya Water today organized a visit to a number of undersecretaries for Al Ansab Lakes, which is one of the tourist, environmental and health attractions in the Governorate of Muscat because of its role in creating an attractive environment for large numbers of 300 species of residing and migratory birds, and which has lately attracted the attention of researchers and interested in birds from different countries of the world.
The aim of the visit was to introduce these lakes, which are scientifically classified under the category of wetlands and their complementary role to wastewater treatment operations, which are mainly aimed at protecting and conserving groundwater from pollution through the production of treated water, which is an environmentally friendly alternative that is used for afforestation.
It is worth mentioning that Haya Water is now working on the inclusion of lakes in the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, an international convention for the conservation and sustainable use of wetlands to halt the gradual increase in the loss of wetlands today and in the future, and to preserve the ecological aspects of wetlands and develop their economic, cultural and scientific role. This will be an important addition to the tourism system in the Sultanate and put it within the wetlands map for those interested and researchers from around the world.
