Health Minister receives Gulf CDC delegation

Health Minister, Dr. Jaleela bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassad, has affirmed the major role played by the Gulf Center for Disease Prevention and Control (Gulf CDC) in strengthening health cooperation among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

She highlighted the Centre’s role in achieving common GCC goals, including the follow-up on regional and global developments related to disease control, as well as raising the level of integration and information exchange among GCC health sectors in order to achieve common aspirations.

The minister was speaking while receiving here today Dr. Basi Pantinen, the Executive Director of Gulf CDC, and his accompanying delegation, who are on a visit to the kingdom.

The minister commended the efforts by made by the Gulf CDC to implement plans and strategies and enhance GCC cooperation and coordination to provide a database and qualified competencies in the field of epidemiological surveillance and the promotion of prevention from diseases and their control.

The two sides reviewed topics of mutual interest, and discussed ways to enhance cooperation with Gulf CDC in the fields of training and exchange of information, as well as in attracting expertise and supporting medical research and studies.

Dr. Basi Pantinen and his accompanying delegation expressed thanks and appreciation to the minister and all the Health Ministry’s affiliates.

They praised the advanced level of Bahrain’s Health Ministry’s cooperation with the Gulf CDC.
