HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad meets CCO of Citi Bahrain


Manama, His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Education Charitable Trust and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), met with Michel Sawaya, Citi Country Officer (CCO) and Corporate Banking Head of Citi Bahrain.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman emphasised the significance of investing in the Bahraini human capital, which is the driving force of national development, by focusing on advancing skills and capacity building.

His Highness underscored that the role of the financial and banking sector as a key sector and contributor to the growth of the national economy, and a creator of added value employment opportunities for Bahrainis. HH Shaikh Isa noted the importance of the sector’s efforts in supporting the objectives of the comprehensive development process of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prim
e Minister.

His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman commended the objectives of the Citi Global Tech Hub to employ 1000 Bahraini coders over ten years since its inception. His Highness praised the efforts of the hub in support of many global projects, and its contribution to accelerating the development of digital solutions in the banking sector. In this context, His Highness lauded the high calibre of the national working force, particularly in the banking sector, and its ability to innovate, create and excel in various disciplines.

HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman underscored the commitment to continuing to strengthen the economic base of the kingdom by focusing on high potential economic projects, creating a business conducive environment, and regulations that support growth and development.

Citibank launched Citi Global Tech Hub in partnership with Tamkeen and Bahrain’s Economic Development Board (EDB) with the aim of employing 1000 coders over the next decade. Bahrain was selected for the project for its business-
friendly environment fostering growth, development, and equal opportunities, as well as its skilled workforce. Bahraini candidates have achieved the highest success rate in the interviews and coding assessments conducted by Citi, in comparison to other regions.
