HH Shaikh Khalid: Bahraini athletes capable of attaining good results at 18th Asian Games

His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), General Sports Authority Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President, has stated that the 19th Asian Games, which will be hosted by the Chinese city of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province from September 23 to October 8, 2023, represent a new challenge for Team Bahrain, as they will provide a platform for Bahraini athletes to showcase their capabilities in the world’s second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.

HH Shaikh Khalid unveiled that Bahrain will compete in 18 games during the tournament, including four team sports, in line with BOC’s keenness to pave the way for Bahraini athletes to participate in various competitions to showcase their capabilities and earn titles for the kingdom.

His Highness made the statements following the launch of the media campaign, “Bahrainis Deserve Gold”, to support Bahraini athletes during the upcoming Asian Games.

HH Shaikh Khalid asserted that following the establishment of BOC in 1979, Bahrain has bagged many medals since the inception of the Asian tournament in 1982 in New Delhi.

His Highness expressed hope that Bahraini athletes will clinch as many medals as they can to reflect the progress of the youth and sports movement in the kingdom, in light of the care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the follow-up of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, SCYS Chairman.

HH Shaikh Khalid commended the tremendous efforts being exerted by BOC to prepare well for the Asian tournament, wishing Bahraini athletes every success in attaining landmark sports achievements for the kingdom.
