Manama, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa sent a congratulatory cable to Board Chairman of Muharraq Club, Shaikh Ahmed bin Ali Al Khalifa, on the football team’s winning of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup.

Muharraq Club football team clinched the trophy for the second time in its history after beating Uzbekistan’s FC Nasaf 3-0 in the final today.

HM the King expressed sincere congratulations to Muharraq Club Board Chairman and members, the football players as well as the club’s affiliates and supporters on the honorable sport achievement which adds to the record of accomplishments of Bahrain football.

HM the King lauded the distinguished performance and technical level as well as the high sporting spirit of the players and their determination to win. HM also commended the efforts of the technical and administrative staff which enabled the team to clinch the well-deserved Asian title.

HM King Hamad expressed thanks and appreciation to the Bahraini supporters for their support to the team, wishing Muharraq Club and all national clubs further success in honoring the kingdom in various sport competitions and championships.
